Zimbabwe calls a national emergency and requests international help as a cholera epidemic spreads - je 05.12.2008 08

Constanze TressDecember 5, 2008

The government in Zimbabwe has declared a national health emergency and appealed for international help to deal with an outbreak of cholera. More than 550 people have already died from the disease.. which has also spread into neighboring states. The European Union and Britian have pledged emergency aid packages.. as the UN rushes in medical supplies. The breakdown in the country's infrastructure and the political stalemate there.. have made it difficult for authorities to deal with the health crisis.
