Germany's leaders are meeting today to discuss possible changes to the country's nuclear energy policy

Karlotta BahnsenSeptember 5, 2010

#German Chancelor Angela Merkel is meeting with leading figures in her governing coaliton today to discuss possible changes to the country's energy policy. The government looks set to extend the operating life of Germany's nuclear power plants. But here it faces an uphill struggle: the Chancellor's own cabinet remains divided on the issue. There's little chance such a measure would pass the Bundesrat, Germany's second chamber of Parliament. And now Greenpeace has presented a legal survey which argues that Berlin FIRST has to ask the EU for its approval before deciding on any plans to expand the use of nuclear reactors.
