German Chancellor Angela Merkel has pledged Bbillions of euros in fresh public investment to boost the flagging economy. The measures will come on top of a 32- Bbillion euro package launched earlier this month. Merkel faced heavy criticism over that first economic plan. Critics charged that most of the measures had already been agreed -- and that the NEW intiatives were worth only about 5- Bbillion euros a year. But speaking at the influential ZEW economic institute in Mannheim on Tuesday, Merkel said more money IS on the way.
