Is EU candidate Georgia drifting towards autocracy?

November 27, 2025

Georgia's political crisis deepens as daily protests erupt in Gori against the ruling Georgian Dream party. Activists accuse the government of abandoning EUintegration and aligning with Russia after disputed 2024 elections. Critics point to bans on opposition parties, anti-LGBTQ+ laws, and pressure on NGOs. While officials claim EU membership remains a goal, protesters say democracy and Georgia's future are at stake.
