At a ceremony in the western German city of Aachen, Chancellor Angela Merkel has been awarded the prestigious Charlemagne Prize for her efforts on European integration. Organisers said Merkel's efforts at bringing out the "human side" in talks with other leaders have helped further unify the continent.+++syn+++
