euromaxx # Mini-City Berlin # 10.08.2009

Constanze TressAugust 11, 2009

welcome to "euromaxx on the move - Summer in the City"! All this week we'll be visiting six different European capitals & meeting a lot of interesting people along the way. We're starting off right here in Berlin - a city with unbelievable energy - and this stems in part from the dramatic fall of the Berlin Wall a mere twenty years ago - which brought East and West Berlin back together. Behind me you can see a one-time symbol of West Berlin - the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. It was badly damaged during World War II but the ruins were left standing as a reminder of the horrors of war. Today Berlin has 3.4 million people who move freely back and forth across the former border - and that visible history is what makes the place so interesting.
