Greece: Documenting the migration crisis

As a child, Enri Canaj fled Albania to Athens with his family. Today he’s a photographer with Magnum and documents the plight of refugees and the migration crisis. He was in Moria when the refugee camp went up in flames.

UAE Mars Mission - Women Break New Ground

In July, the United Arab Emirates launched the orbiter Hope - its first mission to Mars. The Hope science team is 80 percent women, and UAE hopes the mission will not only drive innovation in science and tech but also promote gender equality.

Philippines: Obstacles on the road to e-mobility

Pollution has long plagued Manila. E-mobility could help reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. But e-vehicles are expensive and still a rare sight on the city’s streets, and manufacturers such as Tojo Motors rely on foreign funding and know-how.

South Africa: Cycling to school

In rural parts of South Africa children often have to walk a long way to get to school. The NGO "Sweetbike" provides schools with second-hand bicycles, so kids can cycle to class.
