Women Shea Butter projects in Sahel region improve livelihoods

The Sahel is one of the poorest regions of Africa. But the Shea tree which grows in the area is helping local women fight poverty through the production of Shea butter extracted from the tree's nut. In recent years, women involved in Shea butter production have been recording higher profits as demand for the product by international cosmetic and soap companies grows.
