The German government expressed its "horror and disgust" at the fatal blasts in London on Thursday and said terrorism would not prevail. A statement issued by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, who is attending the G8 summit in Gleneagles, described the attacks as "treacherous", and said they were "clearly aimed at the Group of Eight summit which was taking place at the same time" in Scotland. "We agree that the international community must do everything in its power to fight terrorism together with all the means at its disposal," he said.
