Iran: Tensions mount between the EU and Iran over the detention of British embassy staff

Iran says it has released some of the British embasy staff arrested in Tehran on Sunday as tensions with the European Union escalate. Foreign ministry spokesman said five out of the nine people detained had been released, while the others were still being interrogated. He also said Tehran had no intention of downgrading ties with Britain, despite the incident. Iran has accused Britain and other western nations of fomenting unrest after the disputed presidential election earlier this month.
