Germany's chancellor raises specter of new deportations

Germany's chancellor Olaf Scholz vowed on Thursday that Germany will start deporting criminals from Afghanistan and Syria again after a knife attack by an Afghan immigrant last week left one police officer dead and four more people injured. In a major security speech, Scholz also defended his decision to allow Ukraine to use German weapons to strike targets in Russia.
