Cricket is as popular in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan as soccer is in Europe. Not many Germans even know the rules, but that may soon change. Young refugees are forming cricket clubs all around the country.
Britain's Lord Dubs, who was rescued from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia, told DW he fears the plight of child refugees is getting lost amid electioneering and Brexit concerns. He called Germany the "conscience of Europe."
Germany is an important partner and source of aid to Pakistan. However, even as officials in Berlin are wary of the Pakistani military's political power ahead of the July 25 elections, criticism has proven difficult.
