Report: Deutsche revives Commerzbank merger idea - G7 meeting kicks off amid trade tensions - Argentina and IMF agree a $50bn bailout
Two former advisors from within the Canadian and US administrations have warned of the economic threat posed by US President Donald Trump ahead of the G7 summit in Canada, which kicks off today.
US President Donald Trump refused to endorse a joint communique after G7 members appeared to have agreed on "rules-based" trade. The German government says it stands by the document despite Trump's rejection.
Trump has raised eyebrows by calling for Russia to be readmitted to the G7. Europe unanimously opposed Russia's return as a testy G7 summit got underway.
G7 leaders are struggling to even come up with a joint statement on trade. A breakthrough won't be able to paper over deep differences between the US and its allies.
