Bundesliga Round 10 in pictures
There were flares, fouls and thunderbolt goals as the Bundesliga's "Super Saturday" lived up to its billing. The headline match of the day was a pulse-racing Ruhr derby between Schalke and Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund win on rivals' turf
Dortmund duo Henrikh Mkhitaryan - after his three assists - and Kevin Grosskreutz celebrate after their side clinched a 3-1 victory in the first Rühr derby of the 2013-14 season. That it was at Schalke's Veltins-Arena made it all the more sweeter for Jürgen Klopp's men.
Hertha hurt by Bayern's 'Super Marios'
They conceded the first and last goals, but it was the three in between that counted for Bayern Munich as they eventually overcame Hertha Berlin 3-2 on Sunday. Two strikes from Mario Manzukic and a rare headed goal from Mario Götze ensured Bayern stayed top of the table.
Mainz up, Braunschweig down
Karim Bellarabi tried things from a different angle, but it did not help his Eintracht Braunschweig side avoid a 2-0 loss at Mainz on Saturday. Shinji Okazaki's well-taken brace was the difference as Mainz picked up a first league win since August.
Horror day for Hannover
Two red cards would generally indicate a rough day out, and it was just that for Hannover against Hoffenheim. A 4-1 loss abruptly ended Hannover's unbeaten record at home this season. Mame Biram Diouf was handed two yellow cards in one first-half minute, with Marcelo following him down the tunnel after the break in a bad day for the hosts.
Brave but beaten
Augsburg put up a good fight, but they - and goalkeeper Alex Manninger - were eventually beaten when Emre Can headed home what ended up the winner in a 2-1 victory for Bayer Leverkusen.
The kids are alright
He had just 11 first-team appearances to his name prior to the match, but it mattered little as striker Maximilian Arnold, 19, got the ball rolling with Wolfsburg's first goal in their 3-0 win over Werder Bremen. Ivica Olic and Ivan Perisic added the other goals against the disappointing outfit.
Dirty day for Freiburg's Baumann
Hamburg coasted by Freiburg 3-0 on Sunday, thanks to a horror show from goalkeeper Oliver Baumann. The Freiburg shot-stopper was at fault for all three goals, ill-advisedly coming out of his area for two of them.
Free and easy
Juan Arango's superb free-kick got the ball rolling for Borussia Mönchengladbach in their eventual 4-1 win over Frankfurt. Ozcar Wendt, Patrick Herrmann and Raffael also scored for the winners, with Stefan Aigner getting the consolation for Frankfurt.
