With the so-called Balkan route closed at the Hungarian and Croatian borders, an increasing number of refugees are stuck in Serbia, where they are braving freezing temperatures and appalling conditions in improvised camps.
This summer, up to 4,000 refugees attempted to reach the EU via Bosnia-Herzegovina. Most remain stranded in camps, facing the prospect of a harsh winter. Frank Hofmann reports from Velika Kladusa.
Two migrants have been found dead in a Croatian forest, apparent victims of a landslide. The men are thought to have been traveling through Bosnia, where authorities say 4,000 migrants are waiting to enter the EU.

Hungary leaves migrant teenagers in harsh conditions at its border with Serbia in breach of agreed rules, the Council of Europe has said. Its report follows visits by human rights experts last year.
