Abundant life

A frilled anemone (Metridium senile) is growing on a rock in the ocean off the coast of the German island of Sylt. In 2008, Greenpeace had thrown a number of large boulders into the North Sea outside the Sylt Outer Reef to protect the marine protected area from destructive fishing and sand and gravel harvesting. During a recent dive, the activists documented that life has been flourishing on and around the boulders.
