Peruvian farmer takes on energy giant

Irene Quaile
December 1, 2016

A Peruvian farmer is suing German energy giant RWE. Saúl Lliuya’s home lies beneath a melting glacier in the Andes mountains. He argues that the company’s coal power emissions contribute to climate change and, therefore, RWE should have to pay to protect his home from flooding. DW’s Irene Quaile talks to Christoph Bals from Germanwatch - the environmental organization supporting Lliuya’s case.
