The Philippines is building the Kaliwa Dam to address Manila's looming water shortage. But an indigenous community with claims to the area where the dam is being built says the dam threatens their way of life.

The Kaliwa Dam in the Philippines will stand about 73 meters (240 feet) high and is designed to supply 600 million liters (158 million gallons) of water per day through a 21.9-kilometer tunnel.

The government sees the dam as a key project to increase water supply and reduce frequent shortages, especially in the capital, Manila, and nearby provinces.
