The Rehoboth Holy Church in Burundihas joined forces with environmental groups to confront worsening pollution. Pastor Ferdinand Masabarakiza urges his congregation to protect God’s creations by collecting plastic waste, which residents can now sell to recyclers for essential income. With almost no formal waste system and trash flowing into Lake Tanganyika, church‑led cleanups and circular‑economy initiatives are creating new livelihoods, improving public health, and inspiring broader community action.
