Many children in Africa have to work as domestic help, on plantations or in prostitution to survive. They are robbed of their childhood and guaranteed a life in poverty if they are kept out of school.
Many people who flee from crisis situations are unable to leave their own countries. DW journalists have analysed Africa's refugee crises: Internally displaced people are the most vulnerable.
Africa is trading - just not within the continent. The African Union wants to change this and launch the world's largest free trade area. The plan has potential, but some member states are keeping the AU in suspense.
