Hamid Sulaiman left his home at the end of 2011. After a stint in Paris, he eventually ended up in Berlin, where he composed a graphic novel that provided a kind of therapy. The Syrian enjoys the arts scene in the German capital.
Some see acclaimed Israeli author Etgar Keret as a traitor due to his criticism of the government. He told DW why Berlin is so tolerant and why he'd propose a three-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
