Zohran Mamdani's election as New York mayor thrills Ugandans

Zohran Mamdani was born in Makindye Division, Kampala, where he spent his earlychildhood. From a quiet child, Zohran Mamdani evolved into an outspoken figure, producing hip-hop and rap in Uganda. Mamdani celebrated his wedding in Uganda in July 2025. He is the son of professor Mahmood Mamdani, a scholar who once worked at Makerere University, and Mira Nair, a film director.
