This gas station in Germany's Black Forest is a blast from the past. Totally refurbished in the style of the 1960s, it's got a devoted clientele. The only thing that's not retro is the price at the pump.
The Rhine River once curled and turned, flooding and receding to support a rich mosaic of forests, meadows and marshes. Straightening the river out has been disastrous for its wetlands.
