Gianni Jovanovic, a dental hygienist and performer in Cologne, had a childhood filled with adversity in Serbia and Germany.

The son of a Roma family, Jovanovic was sent to a school for children with learning disabilities, even though he had none. He was forced into an arranged marriage when he was 14, just as he was discovering his gay identity.

But he now has his own dental hygiene practice, is married to a gay man and was a judge on "Drag Race Germany." He has also become a key activist fighting for LGBTQ+ and Roma rights.
