Germania said flight ST8056 had been due to fly to the Turkish resort of Antalya and that all 128 passengers and seven crew members were being looked after at Kassel airport.
Airport authorities said that no hazardous items were found in a search of the plane and the luggage and the aircraft, operated by German airline Germania, was eventually able to take off, news agency DPA reported.
The airport in the central German city was also evacuated, but later reopened.
The caller told airport officials that there was a suitcase on board "which could pose a danger," Kassel police said in a statement.
