Wolfsburg will host Bayern Munich in the second round of the German Cup. Borussia Mönchengladbach will make the short trip across the North-Rhein Westphalia to face Bundesliga rivals Schalke.

After controversy surrounded the first round of the German Cup, in which a referee was hit in the head with a lighter and a team bus was shott, the second round draw provided further drama. Before it began, though, RB Leipzig were confirmed as progressing through the first round, after a possible replay of the abandoned tie against Osnabrück was dismissed by the German football association.

As well as throwing defending champions Wolfsburg against Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich and Schalke against Borussia Mönchengladbach, other Bundesliga teams were drawn against each other. Werder Bremen will face Cologne and Darmstadt face Hannover. Borussia Dortmund were handed a home tie against second divison SC Paderborn.
