In Moscow, the atmosphere remains tense after the murder of an ethnic Russian by an alleged migrant assailant. That event set off a wave of protests and rioting in the Russian capital, the worst in several years. Nationalists also threatened further protests in areas populated by migrant workers from ex-Soviet Central Asia and the Caucasus.
