Cost of living in upward spiral in South Africa

South African consumers are bracing for food price increases after petrol prices went up because of the war in Iran. But it's not only the fuel prices that are driving prices up, it's also the cost of fertilizer.

The United States, Israel and Iran  may have announced a two-week ceasefire, but for farmers and consumers in South Africa , from the field to the shop, there are fears the economic fallout from high fuel and fertilizer prices could linger much longer.

The majority of food and goods move by road and only in the last week of March, diesel experienced a 40% price hike and petrol a 15% hike.
