Bundesliga Matchday 8 in pictures
Bayern Munich are back to their winning ways. Dortmund and Leverkusen falter once more. Leipzig and Hoffenheim continue their unbeaten starts. Here the top images from Matchday 8 in the Bundesliga.
Foals falling flat
Andre Hahn (left) and his teammates had a rough go of it in Munich on Saturday. Bayern dominated Gladbach in the first half as the Foals struggled to replicate their fine performance in Glasgow. Gladbach have won just once in their last five Bundesliga games.
Hugs for Hertha
Hertha Berlin prevailed in the battle of the surprise teams, beating Cologne 2-1 to remain in third. Mitchell Weiser (No. 23) provided Vedad Ibisevic (No. 19) with the opening goal, much to the dismay of Jonas Hector (right).
Dortmund now chasing the pack
Borussia Dortmund's struggles continued on Saturday, dropping points in their third straight game. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (left) got BVB's comeback started after Dortmund trailed 2-0 at halftime, scoring just before the hour mark. But his side had to settle for a 3-3 draw in Ingolstadt.
Early red unsettles Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen's hopes of hoisting themselves back up the table were dashed early in their game against Hoffenheim. Kevin Volland (middle right) saw red from referee Bastian Dankert after just six minutes, getting sent off for a late tackle on Kerim Demirbay. Leverkusen's 10 men did not hold up well as Hoffenheim handed them their worst loss of the season.
Freiburg on point at home
Freiburg must really enjoy playing in front of their fans. They have lost every game away from home this season, but their 2-1 win against Augsburg kept their home record perfect. Maximilian Philipp (left) scored the opener for Freiburg before Nils Petersen (right) doubled the scoring.
Wolfsburg defeated in Ismael's debut
Valerien Ismael did not have the best of times when coaching the first Bundesliga game of his career. Jeffery Bruma (right) saw red after 23 minutes because of a clumsy mistake. Mario Gomez's first Wolfsburg goal was spoiled as Wolfsburg conceded two late goals in Darmstadt. The Wolves now sit in the relegation zone and are winless since the first matchday of the season.
HSV still scratching their heads
Alen Halilovic finally made his first start for Hamburg on Saturday, but even the former Barcelona man could not get the Dinos back to their winning ways. HSV became the latest victims of Eintracht Frankfurt's reemergence, losing 3-0 to continue their winless start to the Bundesliga.
A couple for Keita
Leipzig continued their ascension up the Bundesliga table, and Naby Keita (above) is one of the reasons why. The Guinean scored twice against Werder Bremen, who were unbeaten in their previous three games. The victory keeps Leipzig's undefeated for the season, their first ever in the top flight.
Big day for Bentaleb
Schalke's winless start to the Bundesliga season is becoming a distant memory as the Royal Blues picked up their fourth win in their last five games. Nabil Bentaleb (middle) scored his first ever Bundesliga brace, giving him three in his last two league games as Schalke beat Mainz at the end of matchday 8.
