China has presented itself as a neutral party in Russia's war in Ukraine. Russia analyst Mikhail Alexseev told DW that Chinese nationals fighting for Russia on Ukrainian soil would be a "disturbing" development and "a slap in the face" to President Trump's efforts to broker a peace deal.
