A consortium of German companies promoting the Transrapid high speed train have received the green light to build a stretch of the futuristic rail link between the central Munich train station and the international airport. Deutsche Bahn, the State of Bavaria, and investors have agreed to finance the 1.8- Bbillion Euro project. The approval is a market breakthrough for the German companies Siemens and Thyssen-Krupp who spent years developing the system.
