Some residents of a French mountain village are now on trial for helping refugees cross from Italy.
Oxfam has claimed French police have cut the shoe soles of migrant minors, altered their age on documents and forced them back to Italy. The report comes as Italy and France exchange harsh words over migrants.
Some 450 migrants were rescued and moved from a fishing boat onto two patrol vessels in the Mediterranean. Italy's prime minister says Malta and France have agreed to take some of the migrants.

Some EU leaders are attending a mini-summit in Brussels. They'll discuss differing approaches to how the bloc can deal with a sustained stream of migrants and refugees seeking a new life in Europe.
