NorGer - Energy from Norway

Fabian ChristJuly 20, 2011

Hydropower is set to become a major Norwegian export. The amount of energy derived from hydropower in the country is equivalent to that of 60 nuclear power plants. That potential is something Germany could benefit from, particularly with the country phasing out nuclear power.

NorGer, a Norwegian-Swiss joint enterprise, is planning to lay a cable across the North Sea, connecting Norway and Germany. The link is expected to provide 1,400 megawatts of power, enough to replace the output of an entire nuclear power plant.
