Kosovo is marking the first anniversary of it's independence from Serbia today with a string of low-key celebrations planned across the country. One year on, the divisions between the ethnic Albanian majority and the mainly Serb north of the country remain. Only 54 countries have recognized Kosovo's independence, and Serbia has won the right to challenge the split in the International Court of Justice in The Hague. 15 thousand KFOR troops remain in the country under a mandate to establish a secure environment for both ethnic groups.
