In East Jakarta, Bu Aphin handles everything Vespa, from engine overhauls to full paint jobs. She became interested in Vespas because she found their engines simple and easy to learn, and eventually opened her own workshop.

Despite her expertise, she is still underestimated at times, including by salespeople who assume she cannot spot fake parts because she is a woman. In an automotive world dominated by men, Aphin continues to push against stereotypes. She says and insists that women in Indonesiacan thrive as mechanics as long as they're willing to learn.
