Brussels attacks - Weary travelers - Obama in Argentina - Trump's German money
German authorities have confirmed media reports that a major attack by so-called Islamic State was prevented in 2016. The reports say three teams of jihadists were planning to travel to Germany and kill large numbers of people at a music festival.
Intelligence officials in Germany thwarted a 2016 attack that was planned by the "Islamic State" militant group. A couple who traveled to Syria was said to be trying to send teams of militants back to Germany.
Prosecutors have suggested that a Syrian man may have acted on extremist sympathies when he staged the attack. The suspect allegedly demanded permission to join the "Islamic State" in Syria during police negotiations.
