Child laborers in Bangladesh: Victims of poverty and neglect

Alamgir from our episode #headabovewater started working when he was nine years old. In Bangladesh, around 4.5 million children are working under hazardous conditions. DW has captured their lives in photos.

Around the world, an estimated 215 million children work on a regular basis. The prevailing view is that child labor must be abolished. But child workers in several countries - for example, in Bolivia - argue there is no alternative for now, and are fighting for their rights.

What do you think? Is it evil exploitation or should children be able to work? Comment below or on Social Media using the hashtag #headabovewater.
