Bavaria Votes: Watershed in Germany?

The people of Bavaria go to the polls in a crucial regional election. The conservatives, who have ruled the state for over six decades, face an electoral disaster. The potential winners are the Greens and the far-right Alternative for Germany party.

Matthew Karnitschnig Chief Europe Correspondent at Politico, who says: “A poor showing from the CSU in Bavaria is likely to make the party even more disruptive in Berlin and will raise serious questions about the stability of Merkel's coalition.”
