What are Schäuble’s Motives?

During the six months between Greek Prime Minister Tsipras’s swearing-in date and the final phase of negotiations, documentary film maker Stephan Lamby had exclusive access to Germany’s finance minister Wolfgang Schäuble and was present during internal discussions in Berlin, as well as Eurogroup meetings in Brussels and Luxembourg and talks with investment bankers in New York. The TV team saw at first-hand the development of Wolfgang Schäuble’s stance on the new Greek government with its constant back-and-forth between hope and disappointment. Lamby also maintained close contacts with Schäuble’s then Greek counterpart, Yanis Varoufakis, and carried out in-depth interviews with him in Washington DC and Athens.
