Here in Germany, the government is busy adjusting to the surprise resignation of the vice chancellor. Franz Müntefering, who has served as Vice-Chancellor and Labour Minister for the past two years, announced on Tuesday that he was stepping down for personal reasons, citing his wife's battle with cancer. Müntefering's post as Vice Chancellor will be taken over by fellow Social Democrat Frank Walter Steinmeier.
