Sudan RSF accused of atrocities in el-Fasher capture

October 29, 2025

The UN, NGOs and the Sudanese army accuse the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces group of widespread atrocities, including attacking civilians in mosques and hospitals. Eyewitness testimony and videos posted on social media have substantiated claims that the RSF committed massacres after taking the city of el-Fasher.

More than 30,000 people have fled el-Fasher in Sudan after the paramilitary RSF seized control, ending an 18-month siege marked by starvation and bombardment.
The UN condemned atrocities, including the killing of over 460 civilians at a maternity hospital.

With most residents displaced or dead, el-Fasher's fall signals a deepening humanitarian crisis and the effective division of Sudan into rival territories.
