As US-Taliban talks in Qatar enter their fifth day, prospects for Washington reaching an agreement with the insurgent group have improved. Sources close to the talks say both sides could find common ground on key issues.
In an exclusive interview with DW, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Islamabad is cooperating with Washington to find a political solution to the protracted conflict in Afghanistan.
Although Turkey has shown interest in resolving the protracted Afghan conflict, experts say there isn't much Ankara can do in this regard. Also, too many uncoordinated peace talks are unlikely to yield results, they say.
Fresh peace talks have taken place between representatives of the Afghan Taliban and Iranian officials. The Tehran meeting happened amid reports that the US plans to pull nearly 7,000 US troops from Afghanistan.
