Inside Europe: the demise of the 'Dames Pipi"

For the past 3 months, the women who preside over Paris’s public toilets with a bucket, a mop and a steely eye have been on strike. Paris now has hundreds of automatic, self-cleaning toilet cubicles but the dames pipi, or peepee ladies as they are called, are trying to defend their jobs after City Hall gave the contract to manage the city’s last four staffed public conveniences to a Dutch company.
