Inglorious fruit and vegetables

As consumers, we're accustomed to the shiny, regular-shaped fruit and vegetables that are free of blemishes. But it's hardly a realistic image of many fruit and vegetables. What happens to the cherries and apples if they don't meet the supermarket's aesthetic standards? Most of them are simply thrown away. But in France a movement has begun to get these fruit and vegetables onto people's plates.
