DW has joined up with the BBC, France 24 and Voice of America to launch a Turkish YouTube channel. The platform aims to bring independent information and under-reported stories to a broad audience.
Deutsche Welle and three major international media partners have launched a Turkish-language YouTube channel named +90. They aim to strengthen freedom of speech and the press in Turkey.
Five former journalists and a cartoonist from opposition newspaper Cumhuriyet have been released after 142 days behind bars on assisting terrorism charges. The men were greeted by supporters and family on their release.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu defended his country's incursion into Syria to DW's Can Ertuna. He added that Ankara is deadly serious about its threat to open the doors for a mass exodus of refugees to Europe.
Hundreds of children are locked up in Turkish prisons alongside their mothers. Authorities have said they now want to create more family-friendly living arrangements, but human rights activists doubt this will help.
