Clean energy in Croatia

In Croatia, local business and authorities are beginning to rethink their attitudes towards the environment and realizing that it pays to invest in energy effiicent policies.

Project goal: Support for local climate protection initiatives and help in establishing networks
Project scale: The scheme so far involves 18 towns and communes in three of Croatia's counties, including the island of Krk
Project investment: 750,000 euros

In many developing countries, measures to protect the environment tend to be tied up with heavy initial investment costs. But once they're up and running, environmental initiatives not only improve quality of life, they also boost local economies. In Croatia, local authorities have started to realize that climate protection pays.
