Berlinale to Honor Actor/Director Gomez

Veteran Spanish film actor and director Fernando Fernan Gomez will be honored with a lifetime achievement award at next month's Berlinale film festival, organizers said. The Peruvian-born 83-year-old, who has appeared in some 200 films including "Butterfly" (2000), "All About My Mother" (1999) and "The Spirit of the Beehive" (1973), will also be honored at the annual film festiual here with the screening of his latest film, "Para que no me olvides" (Something to Remember Me By), directed by Patricia Ferreiras, in which he has the leading role. A total of 21 films will be screened in competition at the 55th Berlinale which runs from February 10-20. The jury head is German producer Roland Emmerich whose credits include "The Day after Tomorrow" and "Independence Day."
