Tens of thousands of climate activists have held marches around the world, calling for an end to the burning of planet-warming fossil fuels. The Global Climate Strike was organized by the Fridays for Future movement. The number of participants was lower than in previous years. But demonstrators said frequent extreme weather events showed their demands are even more relevant.
