In most cases, symptoms will appear eight to ten days after exposure to Ebola and are similar to the symptoms of malaria and flu:

  • Fever
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Muscle ache
  • Stomach ache
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of appetite

All these symptoms can occur, but some people will only experience one or two of them. Bleeding from mucous membranes can occur five days after the first symptoms and can involve bleeding from the body’s orifices, such as the mouth, the nose and the genitals.
