Egypt has banned a deadly social media craze which "endangers lives and violates public decency." Abu Dhabi has threatened to fine or imprison those taking part in the 'Kiki' challenge.
Instagram, which has surpassed 1 billion users, is entering the video streaming arena, launching a video platform called IGTV. The app is supposed to help the social media platform compete with YouTube.
New copyright filters in the EU: Platforms like YouTube have to filter uploads by users for copyright infringements. Critics fear the end of memes and say this will destroy the internet as we know it.
